MicrSafe

MICRSafe with 3-Track MSR is both a MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) check reader and an MSR (magnetic stripe reader).

MICRSafe, in a typical application, reads the magnetic data encoded on the bottom of checks or on magnetic stripe cards and transmits this data to a host device. The host device then uses a specific authorization or verification process to validate a business transaction.

Before using the device, we need to download and install Magtek MicrSafe Package.

Steps to install the Software:

Step 1: Click on the Download button. Once downloaded locate the folder and extract.

Step 2:: Locate the extracted folder and run the application.

Step 3: Now locate the MICRSafe folder location and run the application.

Step 4: We need to setup the basic configuration after first connecting the device with a system/laptop. This will set the Check reading format, Mag stripe data configuration etc.

To set this, we need to user the MICR Base Program and the follow the instructions as below.

Step 5: Select USB KB -> Test; You will see a message: Comm test passed. Now click OK.

Step 6: Click Configure on the top menu and, select the setting as below, then click -> DOWNload Configuration to MICR. Wait until the progress bar appears and completes the process. Click OK.

Step 7: Now. click Communicate -> Communicate with MICR.

Step 7: In the MICR field, enter FC6500 and click Send.

Step 8: Enter SA in the MICR text box and click Send.

Now unplug the device power cord, and plug back in. The device will load with the new settings.

Once the above setup is complete, we can proceed to test the integration with the device and the application. This device offers 2 Terminal Entry modes:
